25th May update
The building works on the Terrace level feels like it is going much quicker in the last couple of weeks, but as the Site Manager pointed out; this is often the case in the final stages as there’s more happening that is visible. As you can see in the first photo below, the toilet areas are almost at the stage where the sanitary ware can be installed before final decorating.
The plasterers have been hard at work, as well as the electricians in finishing off the retail spaces. The second and third photos show the first area with newly poured concrete floor and new lighting. On the right hand side of the third image, you can see some of the damp proofing that was carried out which has opened up the space beneath the exterior stair case. The fourth photo is of the new space that will be occupied by the Cornerstone Bookshop. This also shows the new doors, which already really improve the look of the Terrace. We hope to have these retail areas handed over in a matter of weeks!
The fifth photo shows what will become the new lower level entrance. We think the new wooden flooring will look very smart! To the left up a few stairs will be the new toilets, and to the right will be the new cafe. These areas are still being developed, though we hope to have them handed over in August. The penultimate image is of the new steel frame for the Hall; the final section of which was erected last week. The last image shows the new west gable wall which is now almost completed. Cornerstone Bookshop’s Portacabin is to be removed in July and this area will be tidied up to form the new side entrance to the building.
