13th September update
f you were to take a look around the development today, you’d be struck by how much of a difference a week can make! Downstairs, the One World Shop’s own shop fitters have commenced their work with their new broadband cabling being installed and the final touches to the paintwork being undertaken. The stairwell area is really shaping up as you can see in the second image below – the steel joists have gone in and the upper section has been filled with concrete. The drawings for the staircase have been signed off and it will now be manufactured before coming to the site to be installed in the next few weeks! The floor level is having the final touches added to the services and the underfloor heating before the remaining plywood goes on top.
Inside the cafe kitchen area the plasterwork has been completed, as well as the brickwork for the new dumbwaiter and the ducting is almost ready to go in. After several weeks of the Hall being largely inaccessible, we were able to catch a glimpse of the new view from inside – it is stunning and feels almost as if you are up in the tree canopy! Under the mezzanine level, the new cabling is being fitted before the ceiling goes up. The roofing work is nearly finished and we will hopefully be able to share with you some images of this next week!
With the recent delays, the team here have decided to postpone the opening celebrations to January – watch this space for more information in due course. And lastly, thank you to those who have come forward and made a donation recently – whether for a specific item in the building, or a general donation, these gifts are really making a difference and will help ensure the project is completed to a high standard and can benefit many people in the future.
