Get Involved

The are many ways you can support St John’s and its Cornerstone Centre development. Whilst most of these involve donating money, it can be equally helpful to raise awareness of our appeal amongst friends and family.

I’m a Company, How Can I Help? We particularly welcome the support of companies, foundations and trusts, whose interest in the work shows a commitment to ambitious local community projects. Their support for our Cornerstone Centre has taken many forms: donations, gifts in kind, and volunteer hours.

I’m an Individual, How Can I Help? Fundraising can be daunting at times. So where do you start? One of the first things to consider is whether you want to organise your own activity, or join an existing event. St John’s runs a range of events. Past examples include: An Abseil; Bridge Evening; Craft Fair; Bake Sale; The Loony Dook; an Art Exhibition; a Ceilidh; Faces that Changed the World Mural; Quiz Night; Poetry Evening; musical concerts and more.

Here are some other ideas to get you started: Bric-a-brac: Sell unwanted goods on eBay or have a table at a car boot sale. Donate the proceeds to St John’s! Plant Sale/Bake Sale: Like gardening or baking? Then organise a sale. Been on Holiday? Donate your unused foreign currency. Feeling Quizzical? Charge teams to enter and ask a local shop to donate prizes. From gentle strolls to challenging runs, you could consider one of the many other Edinburgh Walks and Runs. Get together with friends or a local group and make it a social event too. You may have your own ideas and we’d love to hear from you.
